A few weeks ago we challenged the lads from SORTEDfood to join us in tackling the cuisine of the world in one day without leaving Austin. The result? A day of gluttony, fun and culture within Austin city limits.
The boys from SORTEDfood have been traveling the states eating their way one city at a time. Austin was just one of their stops, so they are seasoned vets when it comes to delicious cuisine. You can catch their exploits on NY Times, The Today Show and their ever growing YouTube Channel.
Prior to arriving in Austin, the lads had already made their way around California and even jet set to and from Studio 1A in New York. It’s safe to say that by the time they reached us, we had our work cut out for us.
It would have been simple to take the guys from SORTEDfood to our standard marquee trucks. While there’s nothing wrong with those guys, we felt that a deeper look into the truck culture in Austin was necessary. I know how passionate we are about our trucks, so consider this the disclaimer for not taking them to La Barbecue (we suggested they definitely go on their own and they did) and other notable trucks. Truth is, they’d find these on their own. It’s our duty to broaden the perspective of food trucks in Austin, and I felt like this was a great opportunity.
Check out Barry’s shirt! It’s from the Austin Mobile Food Throwdown we hosted between Chi’Lantro and The Peached Tortilla 🙂
