We’ve been hearing about this food trailer park closing or that food truck lot kicking everyone out for condos. But the food trailer community is nothing if not resilient. When one door closes, another opens, and in this case Austin is getting a new dedicated food trailer park!
With food parks like The NATY, the Barton Springs Neighborhood Food Court, and the Round Rock Food Trailer Park, there’s a trend turning toward food trailer parks developed specifically for food trailers. To this point, most land owners have seized the opportunity to make some money off their land by allowing food trucks to set up “permanent” parks on their property. When the time comes to develop the land, the food trucks are forced out, usually with little notice, leaving everyone except the developers feeling sad and hungry.
Break Point at The Boardwalk is the newest of these built-to-spec parks, with room for 12 of Austin’s fine food trailers to call it home. What gets us more excited than usual is that it’s right on Ladybird Lake! On the south side between I-35 and Pleasant Valley, you’ll find pizza, tacos, seafood, and Spanish menus, with other trailers getting signed up to fill in the rest of the spots.
The lot is slated to open later this month or early June. Keep an eye on your next trip around the lake and let us know what you think! In the meantime, what other trailers do you think should set up shop at Break Point at The Boardwalk?
