Churro Co. Austin is composed of a chummy duo that originated from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Leo and David, as teenagers, shared a vision of opening an eatery with traditional Mexican street foods. Leo, head chef, studied the culinary arts in Las Vegas Nevada while David, business dude, dabbled in the world of Marketing & Design. While in school, Leo grew fond of pastries as his specialty. Leo moved to Austin, Texas in the summer of ‘09 and met his now wife Kristen (also a pastry chef). Life & Romance happened and Leo’s dream of opening his own place was put on the back burner. It wasn’t until December of ’13 that Leo and David reconnected with this vision and decided to take a plunge. After years of planning, taste testing, and exploring; they both had a “eureka” moment one night while discussing what food reminded them of home. “Churros!” was the answer. Using this as inspiration, the duo gave the traditional Churro a twist and introduced it to Austin, Texas. Leo’s love for food, David’s knack for aesthetics, combined with Austin, Texas’ exploratory foodie spirit created the perfect incubator for a humble product with tons of passion behind it; we present to you Churro Co. We look forward to meeting you!
